THINGS TO DO:
5 things to do in the Cotswolds this spring
7th April 2025

With the first hints of spring in the air, the Cotswolds is starting to bloom, making it the perfect time for a countryside escape. An official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), this picturesque region comes alive with rolling green hills, honey-hued villages, and tranquil rivers—all ready to be enjoyed before the summer crowds arrive!
To help you plan your visit to the Cotswolds this spring, here's our top picks of 5 things to do during your visit.

1. Explore Sudeley Castle Gardens
Nestled in the heart of The Cotswolds, Sudeley Castle is home to ten award-winning gardens, each with a story to tell. Reopening on 17th March, spring is the perfect time to see the gardens awaken. The Queen’s Garden – named after four English queens, including Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I – is a must-see, while the Knot Garden’s intricate design mirrors a pattern on one of Elizabeth I’s dresses. With breathtaking views of the Cotswold Hills, it’s a feast for the senses.

2. Be enchanted by Bourton on the Water
Often called the ‘Venice of The Cotswolds,’ Bourton-on-the-Water is a delight in spring. Its riverside setting lends itself to leisurely strolls, tasty tea and cake and even a pre-summer ice cream as you take in the views. With a model village that’s one ninth of the real size of the actual village, plus the Dragonfly Maze and Birdland Park, there are lots of attractions, shops and cafes to visit on a bright spring day.

3. Stratford Literary Festival
Set in Shakespeare’s birthplace, this renowned festival is a book lover’s dream. Now in its 18th year, the six-day event in May brings together celebrated authors for talks, readings, and workshops. But that’s just the beginning – take time to explore Stratford-upon-Avon’s rich heritage, from the Tudor Museum to the tranquil banks of the River Avon.

4. Follow the Evesham Blossom Trail
Evesham is right on the edge of the Cotswolds and bursts with colour between March and May. Take the AA signposted route by bike or on foot and spot blossom trees such as cherry plum, apple, blackthorn and pear and damson. With plenty of delightful farm shops and garden centres along the route, you can pick up some local produce and indulge in some treats that celebrate the season.

5. Chipping Campden Music Festival
Founded in 2002 by Charles Bennett, Chipping Campden Music Festival has grown to be one of the UK’s most prestigious festivals featuring some of the world’s most acclaimed classical musicians. Performing in the lovely setting of St James’ church, the acoustics lend themselves to the powerful music played on piano, strings and more, making for an unforgettable experience.
